IPOANS efforts successful at Law Amendments (13 Dec 2011)
We have positive news concerning the proposed content of RTA Bill 110 reported in our IPOANS Bulletin of December 1, 2011.
On November 27, 2011, a letter, written by our Legislative Chair, Peter Polley, was delivered to the Legislative Council and all members of the Law Amendments Committee. The letter expressed our concern that the wording of the amendment that limited the awarding of unpaid rent to the month in which the demand for payment is made.
On Thursday, November 28, 2011 five members of IPOANS made representation to the Law Amendments Committee expressing their concern that the demand for payment should include all outstanding rent and any other lease related charges.
We are pleased to report that the Committee responded favorably to our presentations and that RTA Bill 110 has gone through final, third reading in the Nova Scotia Legislature with our suggested changes.
